WAKO Canada again sent a team to South Africa for a team event. Canada fielded a National Team of 10 athletes from our member clubs - Golden Tiger (Hanover), ROCK Athletics (St. Johns), Black Lotus (Orillia), World Championship (Peterborough), Brake MMA (Cornerbrook), and BAAC (Burlington). Canada has developed many outstanding athletes over the years in amateur combative sports. Jason Hinds is undoubtable on the top of anyones Top 10 list! He has many titles including many CASK Provincial and National Championships, the WAKO North Americans, WAKO PANAMs, and a Bronze Medal at the WAKO World Championship. National Team Training Camps are camps for elite class athletes wishing experience from National Team Coaches. This National Team Training Camp will be also be used to selection athletes to participate in the Canada vs China event to be held in Zen Zhou China in December 2nd 2017. This camp is also mandatory for athletes on the National Team competing at the WAKO World Championship in Budapest.

Winter Games Training Camp The first trials for the 2018 Ontario Winter Games has started! On Sunday September 17th athletes from across Ontario will arrive in Burlington to try out for only 50 spots for the 208OWG! Participants ages 11-18 from member clubs can try out for the Games. The Showdown in Downtown is a black tie show that features amateur kickboxing bouts sanctioned by WAKO Canada. The dinner gala is to raise funds to support kidney research and provide support to patients and their families undergoing transplant surgeries. WAKO Canada is offering a Level 1 Coaching Course on Sunday September 24th. The Courses are Professional Development courses for instructors, coaches, athletes and parents. These courses cover such important topics like Sports Injury Management, Sport Ethics, Coaching Excellence and Rules and Regulations. Coaches wishing to corner athletes at sanctioned competitions are required to complete the course along with registering with WAKO and submitting a police check with a vulnerability sector search.
