Officials Certification Course – Dawson Creek BC

WAKO Canada is hosting our first officials certification course in northern BC!

WAKO BC is now an officially recognized amateur sports association by both the Athletic Commission and VIA Sport. With this exciting new status, our association will be creating a new professional structure with safety, fair-play and sport excellence as our foundations. We are expecting a huge growth of kickboxing in both the tatami and ring disciplines. To ensure the growth is managed by our grassroots clubs, WAKO BC is now certifying judges and referees through our international federation.  Officials courses have been held in Vancouver, the Island and now in northern BC.

The Course will certify both judges and referees in all of our Ring Disciplines – Low Kick, K1 and Full Contact Kickboxing and the Tatami Sports – Kick Light and Light Contact.

The course will cover:

1. Rules and Regulations
2. Scoring Systems
3. Referee Protocols
4. Sports Medical Management
5. Ethical and Legal Protocols

The Course is open to all persons with experience and a keen interest in the sport.  We regularly have coaches, instructors, martial arts students, athletes, parents and fans take the course. Participants learn more about the sport, how bouts are officiated, and to become part of our Officials Team in BC!  All Course Graduates will be assigned a mentor and provided additional support and opportunities to practice judging and refereeing at member clubs.

Course Graduates slowly take on officiating roles as they are supported and mentored by our experienced Chief Officials.
