National Team Camp
May 27 - May 28
WAKO Canada is excited to begin planning for our 2023 National Team that will represent Canada at the WAKO World Senior Championship in Lisbon, Portugal this coming November.
Lisbon is an amazing location for a World Championship. The city has an amazing cosmopolitan flavour with outstanding restaurants, beautiful beaches and vibrant night-life. The beautiful city and Portugal as the host country are excited to host every national delegation and are planning on an outstanding edition of the WAKO Worlds.
The last time WAKO Canada fielded a team in Portgual was the 2009 World Championship where we won a record 6 medals in ring sport. Fast forward to the 2021 World Senior Championship in Italy and Canada made great strides winning medals in both Tatami and Ring disciplines and with a team from across all provinces and territories.
The WAKO National Championship in Niagara Falls (Ring & Kick Light) and the Nationals in Quebec (Point, Light Contact and Forms/Weapons) will crown the National Champions for 2023. Athletes from Ontario and Quebec wishing to solidfy their spot on the National Team are required to attend one NT training camp/Team trials to be held in Burlington, Ontario on May 27-28.
Athletes that qualify from the Nationals (Niagara Falls or Quebec) from eastern and western provinces or the territories will have training camps announced shortly.

Any senior athlete wishing to participate in the camp is also welcome to attend as there will be a number high level resource persons and National Team coaches working with all of the athletes.
