2023 ONTARIO WINTER GAMES
WAKO Canada has already selected over 100 youth in 2022 for the Ontario Winter Games that were postponed that year. The OWG has now been moved to February 9-12 2023 and we are excited to announce that due to increased funding our PSO is able to select an additional 40 youth for the Games!
Youth will be selected in two age-categories – Younger Youth (aged 9-13) and Older Youth (aged 14-18).
Supporting the athletes will be 20 Coaches selected to be part of Team Ontario.
With the announcement that Kickboxing has been fully accepted into the International Olympic Committee (IOC) the stage has been set for our sports inclusion into a future Olympic Games. Part of the Canadian Olympic Team pathway is the Ontario Games program. Organized by the Ministry of Sport the Ontario Winter Games is the largest multi-sport event in Canada and is the first step for all athletes in their Olympic Games journey.

- Athletes aged 9-18 years
The next OWG will be held in Renfrew County from February 9-12 2023.
Participants have an amazing sport experience including –
- stay in an Olympic Style Athlete Village;
- participate in a televised Opening Ceremonies;
- visiting other OWG sport competitions;
- and truly feel part of a major sporting event similar to a PANAMs or Olympic Games!
There will be two parent meetings at the November 13th camp for all parents/guardians for both age groups of athletes.
The cost of the accommodations, meals and participation is subsidized by the Ministry of Sport and Kickboxing Ontario.
We are expecting a large number of additional participants to apply for a 2023 OWG position to apply early!
Participants will be selected based on their participation at this training camps; homework assigned at the camp; participation in the final camp December 11th and results of the Provincial Championship to be held in November.
The Training Camps are designed by Provincial Team Coaches and focus on technical skill building and cooperative team building. Team Ontario Coaches come from many different clubs from across Ontario and are dedicated to making each training camp an amazing experience for the young athletes involved!
