… and the first open scoring tournament ever held in Canada.
Although there was some hic ups on day one, the IT staff and our team of incredible officials were able to quickly problem-solve with the new system. The goal is to get Canadian athletes familiar with the system used internationally and will be used when our sport enters the Olympics.
A huge congratulations goes out to all 72 clubs for assimilating to the new scoring system and learning and adapting quickly. This is a sign of your incredible coaches and focused athletes.
The planning team that put together this championship has incredible depth. Our medical staff under the leadership of Jim, Cesar and Faisal are the strongest team in all combative sports. The quality of athletes continues to climb making for many closely contested bouts. WAKO Canada officials once again provided fair and transparent officiating with safety as a priority.
WAKO Canada is grateful for all the volunteers that make for an incredibly organized tournament. There are many layers of planning that come to fruition simultaneously. It is this volunteer leadership that makes this event happen.
